Miele Compact C1 PowerLine canister vacuums come in several, very similar models – Pure Suction, Turbo Team, and HomeCare. They are the new generation of Miele’s classic, rather compact canister vacuums, with all major benefits of such vacuums at affordable price. At least for Miele’s vacuums …

Miele Compact C1 PowerLine Canister Vacuums – Features and Specifications
Pure Suction, Turbo Team and HomeCare models are rather similar, but there are also several, very important differences.
Miele Compact C1 PowerLine canisters are bagged and corded vacuums, with total reach of 29.5 feet (9 m), which is more than enough for residential use, although it could be somewhat better.
Suction is provided via 1200 W motor and is very good – in combination with various cleaning tools and telescopic stainless wand, these vacuums are excellent in cleaning from the floor to the ceiling.
Both body of the vacuum and the wand have ergonomic handle, enabling the user to easily carry the unit around, if required.Controls are on the canister – it is possible to choose 6 different suction levels, depending on the cleaned surface.
Also, some main cleaning heads can be manually adjusted, depending on the floor type (hard floor, low-, medium- or high-pile carpets or rugs).
All three units come with automatic power cord rewind system.
Units can be stored:
– horizontally – the body of the vacuum cleaner lays down horizontally, with the telescopic wand being placed into the slot on the back of the vacuums body.
– vertically – the body of the vacuum cleaner is placed vertically on the back side of the vacuum.
Personally, I prefer ‘horizontal’ storage – less things to fall down 🙂
Miele Compact C1 PowerLine vacuums have soft wheels, very gentle to the sensitive floors.

As one can see, the main difference between these vacuums are main cleaning tools.
Classic Combination Floor Tool SBD 285-3Miele SBD 285-3 floor tool is great for vacuuming all smooth floors and low-pile carpets.
A foot switch allows the user to manually adjust tool height, when transitioning from hard floors to carpeted surfaces with a quick click of the rocker switch.
Miele SBD 285-3 does NOT include rotating brush or anything similar, and is very gently to the cleaned surface.
This cleaning tool is available in Miele Compact C1 Pure Suction and Miele Compact C1 HomeCare models. To improve cleaning of carpeted surfaces, HomeCare models also include Turbobrush STB 205-3 floor tool.
Turbobrush STB 205-3Miele Turbobrush STB 205-3 is based on a rotating roller brush, powered via small air turbine.
As the rotating brush spins, it loosens the lint, hair, dust and other dirt in the floor, making it possible to vacuum all of the dirt via strong air suction.
Rotating brush adjusts automatically to different carpet heights.
Turbobrush STB 205-3 can be somewhat too ‘aggressive’ for cleaning sensitive wooden floors, thus Miele Compact C1 Turbo Team model comes with Parquet Brush.
Parquet Brush SBB Parkett-3Miele Parquet Brush SBB Parkett-3 is suitable for cleaning of very delicate hard surfaces like wood, laminate and similar.
Parquet brush comes with the 100% natural bristles, enable it to clean smooth, scratch-sensitive floors.
As the tool glides over the parquet or similar floor, bristles agitate dust and other dirt, helping the air flow to remove the dirt, directly into the vacuum cleaner.
Note that all three models come with Uphosltery Tool, Crevice Tool and Dusting Brush tool, which are used to clean smaller surfaces and hard to reach, narrow areas.
Air filtration is excellent, but it is not true HEPA filtration.
Air filtration is based on vacuum dirt bag, pre-motor filter and post-motor filter. Personally, these days many manufacturers advertise their vacuums as having HEPA-style filters. Miele clearly states that these vacuums capture at least 99.9% of particles and they don’t mention HEPA at all. Good enough for me 🙂
Which Miele Compact C1 to Choose?
Pure Suction model comes with non-invasive SBD 285-3 floor tool, enabling the unit to efficiently clean hard floors and low-pile carpets.
Turbo Team model comes with little bit more ‘aggressive’ TurboBrush tool, which is very good for low- and medium-pile carpets. For sensitive floors, Turbo Team model comes with Parquet Brush.
HomeCare model comes with TurboBrush tool (like Turbo Team model), but it also comes with SBD 285-3 floor tool (like Pure Suction model) and it lacks Parquet Brush – SBD 285-3 floor tool is not as gentle as Parquet Brush, but it is much better on non-sensitive hard floors.
